B&A: Elevated Laundry Room with a Stock Cabinet Plot Twist

BEFORE & AFTER

Husband & wife DIY duo Norman and Iesha tackled their laundry room in the recent spring ‘24 ORC. Per Iesha, “Lee inspired this project because he said he needed to clean out the dryer vent. Which meant he had to pull the dryer out of the space. Which meant it would be the perfect time to replace the floor. Which meant it was the perfect time to replace the dysfunctional cabinets. Which meant I would have to paint. Which meant... you get the picture.” Truer words have never been spoken!

The duo tore out the old cabinets and flooring, installed new flooring (porcelain tile that looks like marble, chosen for durability as the room also serves as an entry/exit), painted, and added wallpaper and molding.

The pièce de résistance of this laundry room, though, is the absolutely stunning built-in above the washer and dryer that Norman and Iesha created out of unfinished stock cabinets. After sanding and painting to get a smooth and professional finish, Iesha, certified mastermind, figured out how to add a frame around the doors that would let the doors function normally but create the look of high-end inset cabinet doors. She has an in depth video about this here (which you should check out even if you’re not planning on upgrading stock cabinets, just because it’s thrilling to see it come together).

The finished laundry room is gorgeous, and the dryer vent is clean! Congratulations to Norman and Iesha on their incredible work and what are quite possibly the world’s most beautiful stock cabinets.
