A pegboard is a great balance of form and function. The pegboard pictured above, made by Lindsey of Hilltown House, covers so much wall space, looks fantastic and fun, and also gives her a way to store her sons’ action figures.

Here’s another example of a pegboard being stylish and functional. This is a large custom pegboard made by Rebecca of Studio Plumb for her mudroom. It’s incredibly cute, and it reduces clutter in an incredibly efficient way!

If your room is more minimal and you’re looking to bring in some texture, you might be looking to jump on the spackled art trend. Stef of SMT Designs made this gorgeous piece for her bedroom by attaching a piece of fabric to a frame and spackling over it. She shows her process in depth in her story highlight.

If you’re needing to fill a large space on a tight budget and don’t want to get your hands too dirty, this is the hack for you. Staci and Kylie of KS Design Company made the art piece hanging above the desk out of a shower curtain they found on Society 6. They built a simple wood frame and used a staple gun to wrap the shower curtain like a canvas. It looks great, fills a very large office space, and costs less than $100.

Putting art right on your wall is a great way to create something whimsical and immersive. The Divine Living Space created this super fun Pac Man themed wall that frames her TV and adds interest to what would have been a big, boring wall. Something like this can be achieved with vinyl wall decals or stencils and paint.

Here’s a wonderful example by The Homebody House of how text can make a bold statement on your wall (pun intended).

This might just be the easiest DIY art hack we have in our arsenal. You can use Canva or your software of choice to design your quote poster, export it onto a flashdrive, and take that to your local FedEx. FedEx will print pages smaller than 3 square feet for just $6, and all that’s left to do is put it in a frame!
