Community Spotlight: Beth Diana Smith on Making a Great Gallery Wall
Interior designer Beth Diana Smith has turned up to reveal week with an iconic gallery wall every single time she’s participated in the One Room Challenge®. We think of her as the Gallery Wall Master, and she was kind enough to share some of her wisdom with us.
Five tips for creating a gallery wall:
Make it interesting by mixing art with wall objects.
Map it out on your wall first, before putting any holes in your wall, by tracing all of the art on kraft paper and marking the hardware locations.
Vary the sizes of your art pieces for a more eclectic look. And use art that is the same size for a more modern look.
Framing matters including the frame itself and the mat, even if you have a frame that you love but the mat doesn’t fit the art order a custom mat either online or at your local framer.
Think outside of the box for your art choices, you can frame anything from fabric to postcards to rugs as art.
